Celebrate Back To School With This Cute Card

As I was making this card, I was thinking that it would be great for a teacher or student, but then I thought, This would be GREAT for a parent. Yep, many a parent is excited about sending the kids back to school! šŸ˜‚

First, I made the card base with Azure Afternoon cardstock. I then cut the Poppy Parade layer at 4-1/2 x 3-1/2. I adhered this on an angle to the card base. To make the clipboard, I used Crumb Cake but to 4-1/4 x 3-1/4, then used a corner-rounder.

The note paper is made with Basic White. For the one with lines, I used Azure Afternoon ink, stamping off one time to get lighter lines. TIP: Don’t ink the lines stamp too heavily; it looks much better with a light touch. I stamped the sentiment in black.

Next, I used the dies to cut the note paper, paper clip, heart, star, and arrows. I used silver foil specialty paper to die cut the clip. Adhere the note paper to the crumb cake layer and glue it on the card. Then adhere all the cute elements.

For the inside, I stamped the bottom using the irregular star stamp.

Sweet Songbirds Treats for Back To School!

So, this is the first time in 30 years that I have not been preparing my classroom (as a teacher) or preparing a school (as a principal or assistant principal). It is…different. I miss the camaraderie; I LOVE my teacher friends!! But my husband is still teaching, so I am helping him by creating things for his classroom.

He has a garden theme in his second grade classroom, so for Meet the Teacher, I made him some Sweet Songbirds welcome treats! Yes, complete with gummy worms!

I started with the largest Celebration Labels Die (now retired), which I scored and folded in half. (You could use any large symmetrical die that will fold in half, or just a rectangle.) I had a full pack of Seaside Spray cardstock (now retired), but you could use Balmy Blue for this project as well. The branch and leaves are from the Sweet Songbirds stamp set, which I stamped in Soft Suede and Parakeet Party, one of the new In Colors. The bird wing is stamped with Sweet Sorbet, also an In Color, then punched out with the Songbird Builder Punch. The bird body is also punched in Sweet Sorbet, the belly is Whisper White, and the beak is Mango Melody. The eyes are stamped in black. The sentiments are stamped in Soft Suede and then die cut using the Stylish Shapes dies.

You can find this set and punch on page 31 of the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. They can be purchased separately or as a bundle. When you buy the bundle, you save 10%.
